What is yoga and it’s benefits?
Yoga is a unique exercise that focuses on both body and mind. Yoga consists of a variety of body positions, postures, poses, stretches and shapes all designed to build flexibility and muscle tone. Yoga also helps you focus your mind and thoughts; through meditation you can reap huge benefits.
There are many different kinds of yoga out there but the kind of yoga you’ll see on MyYogaWorks consists of postures, body positions, called asanas that are designed to make your body stronger and more flexible as they quiet your mind, boost your energy level and make you feel totally amazing. The yoga we offer on MyYogaWorks is not a religion or a philosophy, it is a physical tool and a practice to help you become your very best.
Why Yogalates?
Because YogaWorks has been at this for a long time. All the way back in 1986 YogaWorks was the first yoga studio to bring together the best yoga teachers from many different styles and approaches to teach in one place. We have also been training teachers for over twenty years. Our teaching philosophy incorporates intelligent, safe sequencing with clear instructions. The MyYogaWorks teachers have grown out of our years of providing the best yoga classes, workshops and trainings. They are experts, scrupulously trained, passionate, experienced, and focused on YOU!
What kind of experience do you expect?
No experience or fitness level is required. Students in their 20s and their 70s alike are drawn to and benefit from a consistent yoga practice. It doesn’t matter if you are an elite athlete or if you haven’t exercised in years—you will be challenged at an appropriate level for you.
What if I’ve never done yoga before?
If you’re a yoga newbie, welcome! MyYogaWorks is a great way to learn some of the basic yoga moves before ever entering one of our studios. This way when you do decide to go to class, you’ll already be a pro! We recommend beginners choose “level one” from the level menu and start with some of our shorter tutorials (like the “meet” series). One other tip: consider watching the videos you want to practice to all the way through first and then practicing with it.
